Nika Shakiba is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She completed her postdoctoral training in Dr. Ron Weiss and Dr. Domitilla Del Vecchio's labs in the Department of Biological Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and her doctoral training in Dr. Peter Zandstra’s Stem Cell Bioengineering lab at the University of Toronto. Her group applies systems and synthetic biology principles to engineer stem cell behaviour. Nika has a passion for outreach and mentorship and is co-founder of the Advice to a Scientist initiative.
